NSAB/CIAQ Agreement Update
Over the past three and one half years, your Board and management have been in negotiation with CIAQ Board and management to arrive at a plan for sustainability of operations at NSAB. The many changes in the Genetics industry, along with the changes in the Nova Scotia marketplace have inspired us to work very closely with our industry partners - CIAQ - to arrive at a workable solution to ensure that our membership will receive the good service to which it has become accustomed in the years going forward.
With the issue of continuity regarding current management and accounting staff being most compelling, CIAQ has proposed, and NSAB has accepted, the first step. This will involve CIAQ taking responsibility for day to day management and accounting, effective no later than October 1, 2018. This will be put in place earlier if possible.
All remaining staff will continue to be employed by NSAB; indeed all operations will be performed as usual, with CIAQ reporting regularly to the NSAB Board. This agreement will be for a period of not less than two years, with regular review; and will be re-negotiated as required. This new agreement will replace one that has been in place for more than thirty years, with only small revisions from time to time - a testament to the excellent working relationship enjoyed by both parties over a long time.
We will keep our members informed regularly as we move through the process. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact your zone director.
Thank you for your co-operation as we move through this important change.
Sincerely,
Reg Dillman
Chairman
